3 Tricks to Beat Social Platform Algorithms Part 2 – Instagram

Instagram. IG. Insta. The Gram.

Call it what you may, this social media platform has captured the attention of millions and how!

Studies show that on average, a user spends 27 minutes per day on Instagram.

Studies also show that an Instagram user misses 70% of what’s on their feed.

When you compare this number to the number of profiles on the platform (vying for attention), you’ll realise that the chances of your content being shown to your audience are minuscule.

But, what if i tell you, there are hacks to beat this & ensure more reach and followers?

Part 2 of my blog talks about the most millennial platform there is:

If a user is the target, Instagram’s 2020 algorithm is a spy.

  1. It tracks Target activities (What content users like & frequently engages with)
  2. It tracks Target Movement ( What time users are online & more likely to engage with you)

Now that you know what Instagram looks for, here are 3 ways to ensure that your targets are reached!

1. KISS – Keep it shareable, silly!

I can’t stress enough on the importance of getting users to share, comment, tag, save your content. Instagram analyses the content that is getting the most engagement & pushes it to the top.

Brands/creators shouldn’t focus on just creating content, but creating content that people can share. (Pro tip: Videos perform better than photos when it comes to engagement)

Keep a close look at your insights to see the audience following your page which will help create content that will resonate with them.

Here are 3 reasons why I say this:

  1. 7 out of 10 Hashtags on Instagram Are Branded.
  2. There are 500,000+ active influencers on Instagram.
  3. 89% indicated that Instagram was the most important social media channel for influencer marketing.

Influencer marketing has been trending during the pandemic, and will continue to do so.

Further, Partnering with brands & influencers will surely increase visibility.

     3.   #HashtagStrategy

Posts with at least one hashtag average 12.6% more engagement. Using the correct hashtags is very important for audiences to be able to find you, not just on their feed, but also in the explore section.

Try out various hashtags for your brand and keep track of the performance under the “Impressions from hashtag”.

Bonus Tip:

Timing plays a huge role to ensure that there are enough people online to engage with you & push your post to the top. So make sure you know when your audience is engaging with you.
